I’ve never still the dark earth seen so bright,

And days cannot compare and be so dark,

As then when I saw night by her live light

With friends among limbs of wet leaves and bark.

Love’s beauty filled the rain soaked wet, wil grass:

I soaked it in; I filled my heart with her.

My mind was painted with the picture of this lass.

The day there was so bright, my sight was blur.

Am I forever by a girl’s love blinded?

Misguided, always I imagine she

Loves me as I love her; I’m weak minded.

First up, then down, I don’t want to be me.

   I’m ignorant to her white light now ‘parted;

   I’m backed into the dark where I started.
